Dallas Green started the business in 1954. He and his wife were the sole owners. It is now operated as a corporation. And managed by a board of directors.

Has the West Haven Store been in the same location since 1954?

The West Haven store was built on the Old Green Homestead that great great grandpa Green built. Before that the land was used by the Indians. When Dallas was a boy he enjoyed hunting for arrowheads.

How big was the Green Farm that the Business is built on?

The farm is about 125 acres and, except for the lot that the Store is built on, is still being farmed today.

How many sons did Dallas and Charlene have?

Three, Wayne the oldest, a very handsome and good looking man who runs the warehouse. Dennis, the middle son, who is a computer programmer and on the Board of Directors. And Korry, CEO for the business, who manages the West Haven Store.

How do you compete with the big box stores?

In order to compete we have joined together with about 400 farm stores across the United States to form a buying group. The buying group negotiates the best prices for the whole group. This makes it possible to buy at the same prices as the box stores, and even better in a lot of cases. Low overhead is a big advantage. For example, our light bill is only small fraction of what a big box store will pay.
